Questions borrowers ask before they split a payment

Clear answers on credit, compliance, fees, missed repayments, and refinance timing.

Will using RentEase affect my credit?

RentEase uses a soft credit pull to check eligibility, so using it does not involve a hard inquiry or impact your credit score. RentEase also does not report renter installment activity or payment outcomes to the credit bureaus.

Could splitting mortgage installments create RESPA risk for renters?

RentEase does not accept or hold the mortgage payment and does not disburse funds to the servicer. It only splits the obligation between the borrower and RentEase; the borrower still pays the mortgage servicer in full on the original due date. This explanation is informational and is not legal advice.

When are installment fees charged?

The installment fee is charged with each selected cadence installment share: 2.00% for weekly installments or 1.50% for twice-monthly installments. It does not change the loan's principal, interest, escrow, or underlying mortgage.

What happens if I miss a mortgage installment?

If a RentEase repayment installment does not go through, RentEase sends reminders and retries the payment on the existing +2, +5, and +9-day cadence, where applicable. The in-app catch-up path lets you update your payment method and bring the installment current. This RentEase repayment installment is separate from the mortgage-servicer payment, which the borrower still pays in full on the original due date.

How does RentEase interact with a refinance?

RentEase does not alter the mortgage note, servicer, escrow, interest, or maturity date. During a refinance, coordinate any RentEase plan payoff or pause and payment timing with RentEase and your mortgage servicer so the plan and mortgage payments remain aligned. This information is not legal or financial advice.
